Common Types and Structures

1. Single-Piece Metal-Cased Lip Seal

• Structure:
  • Steel casing with integrated rubber sealing lips (primary lip for oil retention, secondary lip for dust exclusion).
  • Spring-loaded primary lip ensures constant contact pressure against the shaft.
• Application: Standard-duty trucks (e.g., 10–25 ton GVW) with moderate road conditions.
• Advantage: Simple design, cost-effective.

2. Double-Lip Composite Seal

• Structure:
  • Inner lip (PTFE or FKM) for oil sealing; outer lip (NBR) with reinforced steel band for dust/water resistance.
  • Optional metal wear sleeve (stainless steel) for the shaft contact area.
• Application: Heavy-duty trucks (30+ ton GVW), dump trucks, or vehicles operating in harsh environments (mining, construction).
• Advantage: Enhanced dual protection against leaks and contamination.

3. Mechanical Face Seal

• Structure:
  • Stationary carbon/graphite ring (mounted on the axle) and rotating steel ring (attached to the hub).
  • Sealing via a precision-machined contact surface (no rubber components).
• Application: Ultra-heavy-duty or specialty trucks (e.g., military vehicles, mining haul trucks).
• Advantage: Zero leakage, extreme temperature resistance (up to 200°C), and long lifespan.
